About the Alaska Middle College School

For more information on the Alaska Middle College School, please call 907.746.8494.

The Alaska Middle College School (AMCS) is Alaska's first public high school in which students are simultaneously enrolled in both high school and college courses.

Students who attend AMCS have the unique opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), as well as earning their high school diploma.

All college courses at AMCS are college-level, and taught by UAA faculty at the UAA Chugiak-Eagle River Campus. Successful completion of these courses allow AMCS students to earn both college and high school credit.

Courses required for high school graduation are taught on site by two highly qualified Mat-Su Borough School District high school teachers or complemented through Apex, Mat-Su's online learning curriculum.

The Mat-Su Borough School District provides AMCS students with college tuition, textbooks, and transportation via the Valley Mover free of charge.
