UAA Winter Outdoor Spaces: A Design Exploration

Feb. 21 to March 1 at the UAA Cuddy Quad

This hands-on winter festival invites participants to build a winter landscape in the UAA Cuddy Quad with snow sculptures and forts, ice lanterns, miniature snowmen and much more.

Come to UAA as part of your Fur Rondy activities to cozy up next to a firepit with a warm drink and a "Wolfpaw" cinnamon roll, and enjoy the creative outdoor space!

All events are taking place in Cuddy Quad

Treasure Hunt Game:

Feb 24 at 9 a.m. through Feb 28 at 2 p.m.
A "Treasure Hung UAA Style" with plenty of twists, turns and big surprises along the way! Play to be one of the first 50 winners to receive a Wolfpaw cinnamon roll and hot drink. Download the Treasure Hunt Instructions to find out how to participate!


Our closing celebration of our winter space will occur in conjunction with the Banff Mountain Film Festival showing on the UAA campus that evening.

  • Join us from 4-7:00 p.m. for live music, artistic and innovative art installations featuring snow, ice, and FIRE along with warm food served by local food truck vendors. Don't forget your mittens!
  • Even if you don't make it for the movie...come join us for the after party from 7-9:00 p.m. Feel free to bring your instruments and come sit around the bonfire or buy some late night snacks from our food trucks!

The Winter Design Project is an inter-disciplinary learning experience and collaboration among UAA faculty and students and the Anchorage community.  The project is also taking place in conjunction with UAA Winterfest.
