The Graduate Student Association, hereafter referred to as GSA, represents the interests of students (research and professional) wishing to attain advanced degrees at UAA by working closely UAA administration offices and student government to effect positive change. The GSA serves as the official "graduate voice" for over almost 2000 graduate and professional students to improve graduate students' academic, social, living, and commuting experience while at UAA. The GSA is supportive of all students in all graduate programs.

Every graduate and professional student has a voice in the GSA and all are encouraged to speak up, speak out, and be heard. The graduate voice is important to UAA. What issues does the GSA address?

All graduate students are members of the GSA. Any member may raise a topic for discussion. All meeting dates and times are listed on the GSA website.  Each fall and spring term, newly admitted students are automatically added to the GSA list serve. The GSA sponsors social mixers with free food and beverages one evening each Fall and Spring. The mixers are a successful way for graduate students to socialize, communicate, and discuss graduate issues. 


All graduate or professional students at UAA are automatically members of GSA. Any student who is enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits and pursuing a master or doctoral degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage may vote at GSA meetings.

Executive Committee

All committee members serve a term of one academic year beginning in August. Elections for the following academic year are held in April.
