About Our Program
The recycling program began as a student run initiative in 2000. By 2003, recycling workers extended their service to create a university-wide recycling program, which continues to expand its services.
Our Recycling Efforts Continue to Grow
In fiscal year 2014 (July 1, 2013 -- June 30, 2014), the recycling crew picked up over 131 tons of mixed paper, almost 15.5 tons of cardboard, 4,152 pounds of plastics, 1,350 pounds of aluminum, 1,322 pounds of glass, and 454 pounds of metals. This resulted in a savings of $3,500 for the university.
We’re happy to share how much we have grown in our efforts, preventing huge amounts of waste from being discarded as trash. There are currently more than 285 recycle bins housed across campus. As shown in the table below, since FY09, we’ve diverted nearly 807,000 pounds of materials from the landfill!
Congratulations and thank you to all of our recyclers on campus!
