Students first arriving at UAA to begin their college experience sometimes find bumpiness on that path. Perhaps they're homesick, struggling in class, feeling isolated and friendless. Mapworks surveys identify problems so UAA staff and faculty can reach out to help solve them, and keep a student on track.

The Learning Commons is the latest step in UAA's effort to help students by integrating the services they need to success—guidance, course reserves and information desk, testing, computer lab and study spaces, printing station, advising and academic coaching/tutoring services—at one easy-to-access place on the Anchorage campus.

UAA and Idaho State University this year created a partnership setting up UAA as one of ISU’s doctor of pharmacy—“PharmD”—learning-delivery sites. The program’s inaugural eight students will receive white coats and begin pharmacy studies next month.

Ryan Bergerson becomes eighth UAA student to win Congress-Bundestag Scholarship

Ryan Bergerson, a civil engineering major and German minor, was recently awarded the 2014-15 Congress-Bundestag Scholarship. Bergerson is the eighth UAA recipient of this prestigious scholarship, which provides for a year of study and internship in Germany.
