Another View of Collapse

The Resilience and Adaptive Management Group at UAA is pleased to be hosting Dr. Terry Hunt, Professor of Anthropology for the University of Hawaii, who will give a presentation and lead a discussion on April 2 at 7 p.m. in Library 307 on the collapse of Easter Island's resources and culture. Based on 30 years of archaeological field research in the Pacific Islands, Dr. Hunt will suggest that, while Easter Island saw dramatic deforestation, the timing, causes and consequences have been poorly understood and even misrepresented. He will detail how deforestation and cultural collapse occurred at different times and for different reasons.
