A physiology seminar will be held with Fairbanks through videoconference on Aug. 1
from Noon to 1 p.m. in Library 302A. The seminar entitled To Eat or To Hibernate: The Role of AMPK and Leptin in Mammalian Hibernators will be presented by Gregory Florant, a professor of biology for Colorado State University.
The research of Professor Florant focuses on the mechanisms that animals use to regulate
energy stores under various environmental conditions. Specifically, his research has
centered on using mammals that hibernate to investigate obesity, fat metabolism and
insulin regulation of energy stores.
