April's First Friday Art Walk

Are you an artist who also likes to read? Then here is an excellent opportunity for you! It is now open submission for art in response to UAA/APU's Books of the Year: The Swallows of Kabul, by Yasmina Khadra , and/or Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood. Art that complements major themes presented in either of the UAA/APU Books of the Year or public lecture series Meeting Islam: Engaging Muslim Belief, Culture, Politics will be considered.
Pieces must be submitted no later than March 1. Final selection will be March 15. Artwork must be no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet, capable of being hung and submitted with mechanism to hang piece(s). Artwork must be available to be displayed throughout the month of April.
Reception for selected pieces will be April 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Side Street Espresso, 412 G Street, for First Friday Art Walk downtown Anchorage. Artists will have the opportunity to sell their artwork. Art will be on display for the entire month of April.
