May 1, 2009 is deadline to remove studded tires

Please note that Alaska regulations require that studded tires not be used on public roadways, beginnng Friday, May 1. Tickets issued by the Anchorage Police Department after the deadline require a fine per tire. Tickets issued by state agencies, including the UAA Police, are "correctible" within 7 days.
