Biology Department features Professor Lilian Na'ia Alessa on climate change - Feb. 4, 2011

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Friday, Feb. 4, 3:30-4:45 p.m.
CPISB, Room 120

The Biology Department is pleased to have guest speaker Dr. Lilian Na'ia Alessa, faculty from the Biological Sciences Department.

Alessa will  speak on how Alaska is often portrayed as ground zero for climate change, with an accelerating water cycle. However, the data do not entirely support these scenarios. Instead, high variability is the only consistent trend for every location in Alaska where climate data is monitored, with one exception. In this seminar, we will explore the relationships between the science of climate change, temperature, precipitation and a few of Alaska's options for embracing an uncertain hydrological future.

Parking on the UAA campus is free on Fridays.
