University of Alaska Anchorage and Fairbanks both made the list for "Top Colleges for Affordable Fire Science Degrees" posted today on Fire Science Online, a not-for-profit website that promotes quality fire science education.
The website listed 67 schools across the United States with good fire science programs and affordable tuition. UAA and UAF were #45 and #46 on a list of 67 schools, with a tuition of $5, 115 each.
According to Fire Science Online, "We used the most current information from the National Center for Education Statistics to find the 67 most affordable Fire Science degree programs in the country. Each of the schools on the list is a four-year institution with average annual tuition below $10,000. Any of these schools would be an excellent choice for prospective firefighters looking for a great education at an affordable price."
"In creating our list, we hope to help prospective students find a fire science program that fits their unique financial needs," said Wes Ricketts, Vice President and General Manager of Fire Science Online. "Students are looking for schools that can lead to high-paying careers in the future without breaking the bank today."
