More full-time students at the University of Alaska last year took heavier credit loads than seen in each of the prior 10 years, the university announced Aug. 9.
Gunnar Knapp has been appointed director of UAA's Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), after acting as interim director since January. A long-time professor of economics at ISER, he is widely respected for his studies of Alaska's commercial fisheries and other aspects of the state's economy.
All Community & Technical College (CTC) departments and division offices will be closed 8 a.m.-noon on Thursday, Aug. 15, for a staff and faculty meeting hosted by CTC's Office of the Dean.
