Bartlett Lecture Series presents Jeff Chang, March 24

University of Alaska's Bartlett Lecture Series is proud to present Jeff Chang.

The event is free and open to the public. Chang will present from his latest book, Who We Be: The Colorization of America.

Hip-hop author Jeff Chang is the recipient of many honors, including the American Book Award and the Asian American Literary Award. The Utne Reader named him one of "50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World." He has written for The Nation, The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, The Believer, Foreign Policy, N+1, Mother Jones, Salon, Slate, Buzzfeed and Medium, among many others. He serves as the executive director of the Institute for Diversity in the Arts at Stanford University.

Chang's lecture will cover themes from Who We Be: The Colorization of America, weaving comic strips and contemporary art, campus protests and corporate marketing campaigns, Martin Luther King Jr. and Trayvon Martin into a powerful, unusual and timely cultural history of the idea of racial progress.
