University of Alaska Anchorage athletic director Keith Hackett announced Friday that UAA assistant athletic director for media relations Nate Sagan has resigned his position and will leave the department effective Sept. 1.

Since joining the athletic department in 1999, Sagan has overseen media relations for all 13 of the Seawolves' NCAA sports programs, while serving as the primary contact for men's and women's basketball, volleyball and gymnastics teams. A graduate of UAA and East Anchorage High School, he has also been a member of the department's senior staff since 2013.

"As a Seawolf fan since high school, a UAA grad and now an employee for the last 18 years, it was a very tough decision to leave a place that has been integral in my life, but I feel that now is the right time to tackle my next challenge," Sagan said. "I've been lucky to work with an outstanding group of coaches, student-athletes and fellow administrators here at UAA, and I'm grateful for the opportunities UAA has afforded me."

"Nate has done an excellent job as assistant athletic director for media relations," Hackett said. "His knowledge of Seawolf Athletics and his relationships with local media have been great assets for our department. We are going to lose a seasoned media professional but wish him the best in his future endeavors."
