Lending a hand: How mechanical engineering alumnus Victor Samoei paid it forward through the Seawolf Success program

Student-athlete Victor Samoei traveled to Alaska from Kenya, Africa, to pursue his degree in mechanical engineering. It was an adventure of a lifetime, and during his four years at UAA he not only learned lessons in the classroom, but how to help other students like him transition to college life.

Ben Walker '06, a seventh grade science teacher at Romig Middle School in Anchorage, is the 2018 Alaska State Teacher of the Year. “I really enjoy the fact that every day is different. Every kid is different. Every kid is different every day.”
