UAA IT Services announces self-service software downloads

by Michelle Saport  |

Have you ever wanted to download UAA-provided software yourself, without needing to wait for an IT tech's assistance? New updates provided by IT Services now allow UAA employees to easily download supported software on their UAA computers. The process is similar to and as easy as using the Microsoft App Store or Apple App Store. The self-service for software downloads are a part of the Endpoint Management service, which provides centralized management of workstations and servers allowing remote installation of applications, patches, and other software fixes.

SCCM for Windows and Jamf for Mac provides UAA employees access to supported software downloads directly on their UAA computers. This gives employees easy and quick access to software, eliminates the wait time for customers to install most applications and updates, and does away with the need for the department Designated IT Professionals. If you prefer to continue to get assistance with software downloads, the Technical Support Center and Desktop Services are available to assist. Just call us at 907-786-4646 or email uaa.techsupport@alaska.edu.

No action is required for you to access this service. More information, including instructions on how to download software and lists of available software, can be found on the following Knowledge Base pages: SCCM for Windows and Jamf for Mac. Additional software will continue to be added through FY19. Please let us know if there is software you think should be prioritized for addition.

As always, the UAA IT Services is here for your technical needs. Call us at 907-786-4646, or email uaa.techsupport@alaska.edu, if you have any questions or would like assistance getting software.
