Chancellor update on expedited program review, furloughs and more

by Cathy Sandeen, UAA Chancellor  |

Dear UAA Community,

Please take a moment to watch this video message. There are four key things I’ve highlighted.

Expedited Program Review – The Board of Regents (BOR) Academic Student Affairs Committee met on Monday and Tuesday. Generally, they accepted UAA’s recommendations for program revisions and discontinuations. You can visit their committee website to learn more. Final decisions will be made at the June BOR meeting. Students should reach out to their advisors with questions about their program.

Furloughs – Some employees will be notified of temporary furloughs due to COVID-19, which has reduced work available in their area. This won’t affect medical benefits, and employees may be eligible for some unemployment benefits.

CARES Act UAA will receive $5 million in federal aid, with $2.7 million earmarked for direct student support.

Incompletes – The deadline has been extended to finish an incomplete course. Professors and students should work together on course completion needs.

Get outside. Stay active. Do something fun!

Sincerely,
Cathy Sandeen
UAA Chancellor
