Welcome to our fall semester at UAA. For some of you, this will be your first university experience; for others, this might be your second or third term of College During COVID. Whether this is your first semester at UAA or you are a continuing student, please do not hesitate to reach out to your instructors, advisors or peers. We all need to support each other, and College During COVID really is just a reminder of that. We are a community at UAA, and we are here to help and support you.

On July 17, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) CEO Board made a unanimous decision to suspend all fall athletic competition until at least Nov. 30 due to the ongoing and increasing risks associated with the pandemic.

Native Student Services staff would like to welcome and congratulate Paula Jones as the new Student Services Coordinator as of August 3, 2020. Paula comes from the Alaskan village of Kuinerraq (Quinhagak). Paula has a strong relationship with her home community, where most of her family still resides.

Are you looking to connect with other supervisors regarding the management of student employees? Please join the three Career Services offices for our bi-monthly Supervisor Roundtable. This month we will provide an overview of Supervisor Resources for recruiting, hiring and training student employees in a remote and in-person environment.

The Office of the Registrar seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join its team as a Transfer Credit Counselor. This professional facilitates the university’s mission by building relationships with prospective transfer students, as well as other higher education institutions, to help attract future Seawolves well-suited to UAA’s programs.

The faculty engagement subcommittee of the Campus Kick-Off committee has come up with two exciting ideas on how students and faculty can engage this year. The first one is to embrace esports; and the second is a networking event with students.
