Chancellor response to Gov. Dunleavy message on COVID-19
As many of you already know, Gov. Dunleavy triggered the emergency notification system and issued a declaration regarding COVID-19. For the moment, little changes at UAA as many of our current safety measures already align with the new declaration. These include online delivery for most classes, remote work for employees, as well as the use of masks and face coverings in university facilities and social distancing requirements for the limited in-person campus operations and face-to-face classes that remain.
Upstart Internship opportunity — help strengthen entrepreneurs in Alaska
In this program, interns are paired with local startup companies and entrepreneurial ecosystem builders to learn about entrepreneurship and what it means to be a founder. They also participate in regular professional development sessions with topics ranging from managing remote work to leveraging their strengths for success.

Join us at the last fall Core Competency Open Forum (Nov. 13, 9-11 a.m.)

This year, UAA is highlighting the competency of Personal, Professional, and Community Responsibility. Because it is an institution-wide competency, we need to think about how this kind of student learning occurs in both traditional classroom settings and more broadly in student activity and service settings.

Crossing paths: When history and the present collide
In the UAA/APU Consortium Library, the Alaska Medical Library and the Archives and Special Collections are housed for the state of Alaska. Although the two sections are seemingly separate, the information each holds has been invaluable to researchers and public health officials across the state and globally during COVID-19.
UAA earns accolades as Military Friendly School
For the 12th year in a row, UAA has been designated a Military Friendly School by Viqtory, which benchmarks and rates colleges nationwide, helping veterans and military families make decisions about education and career opportunities.
Expressing gratitude on Veterans Day
"Today is Veterans Day, and I am reminded of the important contributions veterans make to our city, state and nation each and every day," wrote Chancellor Sandeen in a message to the UAA community. "At UAA, veterans are essential. They are professors, students, staff members and alumni."
