UAA Cares campaign for United Way of Anchorage runs Nov. 4–Dec. 18

This year, the UAA Cares campaign runs from Nov. 4 through Dec. 18. You have the opportunity to donate to any of the United Way of Anchorage member agencies and the many independent nonprofits in the community of your choice, plus the United Way of Mat-Su for those of you living in the Valley.

Alaska INBRE opened its Graduate Research Assistantship Opportunity

The Alaska IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (AK INBRE) is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. The primary objective of Alaska INBRE Graduate Research Assistantship program is to provide support for projects in the biomedical and behavioral sciences with mentorship from UAF, UAA, or UAS faculty involved in biomedical and behavioral research. Projects that align with the AK INBRE One Health theme will be given priority. Alaska INBRE can fund approximately ten (10) Graduate Research Assistantships awarded for AY 2021-2022. Only Ph.D. candidates are eligible for two-year awards.

Holiday package shipping available through the UAA Mailroom

Holiday Package Shipping Available through the UAA Mailroom Your UAA Mailroom has been approved to assist you in sending your holiday packages! Don’t stand in line with a bunch of strangers at the post office/FedEx/UPS. This service is by appointment only, and all customers must adhere to approved procedures. All packages must be ship-ready as we are unable to provide boxes or packing materials. Only the customer may enter the building (no other family members/children). UAA to graduate more than 1,000 students this fall

Much like the spring 2020 semester, the University of Alaska Anchorage fall commencement activities will look a little different this year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the pandemic will not prevent UAA from celebrating the fall Class of 2020 graduates via video ceremonies for graduate hooding, Dec. 12, and commencement, Dec. 13, on the graduation website. The site honors the accomplishments of more than 1,000 certificate, undergraduate and graduate students from the Anchorage campus.

Bruce Schultz to start as UAA interim chancellor Jan. 4

Bruce Schultz will serve as University of Alaska Anchorage’s Interim Chancellor beginning Jan. 4, 2021 and until a permanent chancellor is named. "In my many conversations with Bruce, and in listening to the thoughts he expressed during the virtual town hall, it became clear to me that he would bring a steady hand and long history of commitment to student success to the interim chancellor position," Interim UA President Pat Pitney wrote in a message to the university community. "I believe Bruce will be an asset to UAA and to the University of Alaska system, and I am happy to welcome him to the leadership team."

Performance '20 and latest UAA Fact Book now available online

Performance '20, UAA's annual report highlighting top stories of 2019-2020 and performance on selected performance measures is now available online. The UAA Fact Book 2019-2020 is also now available.

Cashiering Office move to campus postponed

The Cashiering Office move to ESH on the campus has been postponed until early January. Until that time, they are still located at the original location in the University Center. The Bursar's Office, Accounts Payable and the Budget Office are still moving to ESH this week, with the hope of being operational there by Monday, Dec. 11. Our phone numbers and email addresses are remaining the same. When we are informed of an exact move date for Cashiering we will send out another announcement.

State to begin using AAC for COVID-19 treatment

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) announced today the State of Alaska has established a temporary, outpatient, state-run infusion center at the Alaska Airlines Center (AAC) to deliver treatments for COVID-19 using monoclonal antibodies.

Copy & Print Center offers courier service

UAA General Support Services is currently offering delivery of complex proofs and completed Copy & Print Center jobs to UAA employees as required to accommodate work-from-home needs during this time.
