Business leaders donate $1M to College of Business and Public Policy

The gift from Gary and Jane Klopfer is the largest, individual gift an alum has given to UAA during his or her lifetime and will establish the UAA Student Investment Fund, giving students real-world experience using financial industry tools, establishing UAA as a leading finance hub of the University of Alaska system.

ConocoPhillips donation advances high performance computing at UAA

This summer, a large high-performance computing cluster donation from ConocoPhillips to the College of Engineering goes live, allowing engineering students and faculty to more efficiently run demanding artificial intelligence and data science programs.

Juneteenth now a federal holiday

Yesterday, President Biden signed a bill passed by Congress declaring Juneteenth a federal holiday. June 19 will now be known as Juneteenth National Independence Day.

College of Engineering is seeking a candidate to lead/participate in student recruitment efforts, including organization of events for prospective students, development of materials and presentations, conducting classroom presentations, and representing the college at high schools and college and career fairs. Work with recruitment office to ensure efforts are not being duplicated as well as to pool resources and streamline processes. Develop original digital and print materials for the marketing of College of Engineering.

2021 Rolling Travel Awards

The Alaska NSF EPSCoR Fire & Ice project announces the availability of funding to enable UA faculty, staff and students to present their research, to interact with colleagues and mentors, and/or to obtain training. Grants may be used for travel to, or remote attendance at, conferences, workshops, trainings, or other appropriate academic settings. Awards are for up to $3,500 and cover domestic travel only (remote participation in international events is allowed). Application deadline is rolling through August 31, 2021 and travel or participation must be completed by September 30, 2021.
