The UAA Office of Financial Aid is pleased to announce the launch of a new online booking tool where students can quickly schedule a financial aid appointment.
"An online booking tool gives students the flexibility they need with their mobile device or other platforms at any time, and avoids the necessity to wait in line or on a phone queue during regular business hours simply to set up an appointment,” said Shauna Grant, financial aid director at UAA.
Located in the new Enrollment Services Center in the UAA Student Union, the financial aid office does not require students to schedule an appointment to speak with someone. Students may drop in anytime with general financial aid questions. However, students wishing to receive a longer, more in-depth financial aid consultation, such as assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), are encouraged to make an appointment.
Adapting to challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the booking tool allows students to choose their appointment format preference: Online, in-person or over the phone. Students can schedule an appointment up to one week in advance and text message reminders are sent a day and an hour before the appointment time. “It offers options for timeframes and sends reminders as well as detailed instructions for next steps in the process,” Grant explained.
Appointments are offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. AKST, with the last appointment scheduled no later than 4pm. If the booking tool does not have a preferred date/time available, students are still welcome to call/email the financial aid office to request an appointment time. Students requiring accessibility accommodations can contact the financial aid office at least one business day prior to the appointment time to make arrangements.
The Office of Financial Aid staff are excited to be offering this new service and look forward to assisting students soon. “We are so pleased to add this time saving option to our suite of services for students. A primary goal is to remove barriers, and this meets students where they are,” said Grant.
