We are pleased to announce the finalists for the position and the process for virtual campus visits April 12-16. Our search generated international interest and produced a large set of initial applicants. Please save the dates for the one-hour virtual open forums: April 12, 13, 14 and 15, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Open forums for Student Activities Civic Engagement & Diversity Coordinator

You are invited to attend open forums for the Student Activities Civic Engagement & Diversity Coordinator. This new position will provide the foundation for ongoing UAA co-curricular programs and work with student staff to provide diverse programming to UAA students and the campus community. The position’s primary responsibility will be to work with the Student Activities engagement team, Green Fee Board, YoUAA Committee, UAAVotes, and the Daily Den.

Unabridged: James Muller publishes definitive edition of Churchill's 'The River War'

UAA political science professor James Muller recently published an unabridged edition of "The River War: An Historical Account of the Reconquest of the Soudan” by Winston Churchill after more than 30 years of meticulous work. This is the first time in over a century that the story has been told and published in its entirety.

College of Business and Public Policy earns AACSB accreditation extension

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business grants accreditation to fewer than 5% of all schools worldwide offering degree programs in business at the bachelor’s level or higher.

Butrovich Data Center generator electrical maintenance work scheduled for May

On Saturday, May 15, and Saturday, May 22, UAF Facilities Services will be conducting a planned maintenance power shutdown to the entire Butrovich Building to prepare electrical systems for the integration of a new backup generator for the Butrovich Data Center (BDC). The electrical system must be completely powered down to ensure safety for the technicians doing the work.

Thomas Chung teaches Intermediate Painting at UAA

Thomas Chung, assistant professor of art and painting in UAA’s Department of Art, was recently awarded first place in the staff category of University of the Arctic's inaugural photo competition for his three-part photo series titled, "Arctic Sea Ice, Under the Glacier and Whale." We caught up with Chung to discuss his inspiration, overall approach to art and recent award-winning photos.

We would like to advertise the UAA Student Research & Creative Scholarship Showcase for 2021 once again! In this competition, we will be collecting submissions for internal judging, and publication of your conference poster, if accepted. Students will compete for prize money for the top three contenders in each discipline.
