March 23 and 24: UAA Honors Open Forums

The UAA Honors Task Force invites faculty, staff and students to attend one of two open forums in which results from the Future of Honors at UAA survey and the recommendations from the Honors Task Force will be presented. During the presentation, questions and concerns will be addressed, and additional recommendations from the UAA community about the Honors program will be solicited.

It's never too early to start your career journey! Encourage your students and alumni to join Career Services on Handshake for the very first UA Virtual Career Expo on March 24 from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.

March 25: 'Coloring the Universe' with Dr. Travis Rector

Join us for a virtual presentation of "Coloring the Universe" presented by UAA Astronomer, Dr. Travis Rector. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A from our Facebook Live and Zoom audience.

March 25: ‘Marching to Justice’ featuring Dr. Tracey Wiese and Lillian Lennon

Thursday, March 25, 7:30–8:45 p.m. - a panel sponsored by several departments at UAA and Project ECHO, as part of a series of panels called "March to Justice", where, in honor of Women's History Month, we will celebrate the transgender women and gender-expansive individuals in our community. I will be joined by special guests Lillian Lennon and the director of the new clinic at Identity - Dr. Tracey Weise, and we will discuss some of the work that has been done, and what we still need to do in order to create a safe space and provide proper and educated services.

Just before the new year, Dr. Diane Hirshberg of the UAA Institute of Social and Economic Research was named Vice-President Academic of the University of the Arctic, a consortium of over 200 postsecondary and educational institutions that either are located in the circumpolar north or conduct meaningful education and research activities related to the Arctic.
