ISER Spring Seminar schedule

The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) is hosting a series of seminars for the UAA community. ISER faculty, staff and guests will present on varied topics, from research on the PFD to misinformation on Facebook. Seminars are Tuesdays over the lunch hour.

Feb. 23: Office of the Registrar hosts Transfer Evaluation Brown Bag

Equity at Work and in the World - two virtual workshops

Starting with the foundational agreement that systemic bias is an everyone, every day, institutionalized problem, this workshop will explore what it means as individuals to contribute to a solution — day to day, minute by minute, situation by situation.

Latest: NWCCU Evaluation

I received news today that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has officially accepted UAA’s Mid-Cycle Self-Evaluation Report, with no additional requirements noted. This is an outstanding result for UAA, our students, and the communities we serve.

Capitol Report for Feb. 18, 2022

This week the governor’s amended budget was introduced with a set-aside for UAF’s Alaska Center for Energy and Power. Additionally, student leaders from around the state came to the Capitol to advocate on behalf of the university system, and UA System leadership was invited to speak on a panel about federal infrastructure spending at the annual Alaska Municipal League legislative conference.

Blackboard alert of Feb. 15 — No action required

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 15, faculty may have received an email from "helpdesk@alaska.edu." The message referenced Blackboard system maintenance and, unfortunately, included confusing and troubling language that may have caused some faculty to believe that a permanent deletion of courses was afoot. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

Feb. 19: UAA vs. UAF Men's Basketball

Cheer on the UAA Men's Basketball Team this Saturday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. as they face off against our friendly rivals from UAF. Free T-shirt for the first 200 fans, courtesy of ConocoPhillips Alaska.
