Migration to new VPN system delayed for students

by UAA IT Services  |

Dear UAA Community,

To support student learning through the end of the Spring semester, UAA IT Services has extended access to our old VPN solution, CISCO AnyConnect, for student access.

Why are we making this change?

Currently, the new GlobalProtect VPN was implemented with requirements for employees that do not apply to students. Those requirements are preventing students from successfully logging into the GlobalProtect VPN.

How does this impact me?

Students that need to use the VPN for access to services like remote labs, SPSS, ArcGIS, to name a few, should continue to use the AnyConnect VPN software. Employees should continue to use the new GlobalProtect VPN.

While IT Services is working on a solution to enable students to use GlobalProtect VPN, the end-date for AnyConnect has been extended.

IMPORTANT: If you are a faculty member who is offering a course this summer or fall that requires students to have VPN access, please contact IT Services as soon as possible.

How can I get help?

Please contact the Technical Support Center at 907-786-4646, email us at uaa.techsupport@alaska.edu or open a ticket at the Seawolf Tech Portal.
