Emergency manager leaving UAA
by Green & Gold News |
UAA Emergency Manager Ron Swartz has announced that he will be leaving the university in early July. Ron started with the University Police Department in 1997, helped create the emergency manager position in 2007, and has been working in that role under Environmental Health & Safety since 2015. The Office of Emergency Management works to establish all-hazards plans, training, crisis alerts and exercises to enhance our emergency resiliency at UAA's many campuses. Ron's work in providing incident management training to leadership and campus responders helped UAA recover from windstorm damage, the 2018 earthquake and pandemic impacts, among other emergencies. UAA's new emergency manager has been chosen from a group of quality applicants from across the country, and will be introduced in a separate announcement soon.
