Passing of Jodi Pfeiffer and memorial service

by Andre Rosay, Interim Dean, UAA College of Health  |

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of our colleague Jodi Pfeiffer. Jodi was a term assistant professor of Physical Therapist Assistant, and she served as the program director for the AAS in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Jodi first started working at UAA as an adjunct professor in 2015. She also served on the PTA advisory committee and as a clinical instructor before being appointed to a term assistant professor position in 2020. She brought to UAA more than 25 years of experience as a licensed physical therapist assistant. She cared deeply about our students and the PTA program. It was always a pleasure to see her in the PSB hallways, and I will miss her positive attitude and warm smile.

Jodi was active in the physical therapy community in Alaska. She served the Alaska Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) through numerous leadership positions and volunteer roles, including PTA Caucus Delegate, APTA Alaska Treasurer and, most recently, as a member of the Alaska Physical and Occupational Therapy Licensing Board, to name a few. She was named APTA’s Outstanding PTA of the Year in 2018. We will sorely miss Jodi.

A service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla (1201 E. Bogard Road). To honor her life and contributions to UAA, a memorial in Jodi's name will be established to benefit PTA students. To make an online contribution to this fund, please go to, select “College of Health” as the Designation, and include “in memory of Jodi L. Pfeiffer” in the comments.

You can read her obituary on the Legacy funeral home website. Thank you for joining me in remembering Jodi and her many contributions to UAA.
