by Green & Gold News  |

Welcome to NCORE 22!At the start of June, members of UAA's DEI leadership team attended and presented at NCORE, the nation's largest higher education DEI conference.

Jennifer Booz, chief diversity officer, was invited this year to sit on the NCORE National Advisory Board representing chief diversity officers across the country. In addition to board work, Jennifer also presented a session titled, "Shared Equity Leadership."

Sara Caldwell-Kan, director of Multicultural Student Services (MSS), presented at three sessions (!), including "Radical Interconnectivity: Honing Our Praxis Through Difference, Complex Commonalities and Intellectual Humility," "Multiracial Healing through Story Circles & Critical Connections" and "Story Circles & Healing Cards: With Love for Us."

In addition, Michele Yatchmeneff, executive director of Alaska Native education and outreach, was able to attend a day-long pre-conference institute on indigenous student success.

As a conference cohort, we were able to share our UAA best with the Lower 48 and bring back national best practices to improve DEI work. Feel free to reach out to any of the leaders listed in this article for more info on their conference sessions.
