Reminder to complete annual Title IX training

by Green & Gold News  |

Dear UAA Community,

This year marked the 50th anniversary of Title IX, one of the most impactful pieces of legislation in our country. We have come such a long way since Title IX was signed into law in 1972, and that is in large part due to our ongoing attention and compliance.

To ensure our campus community is aware of Title IX and our roles, we prioritize Title IX training for all students and employees annually. Last year, our training completion rate for employees was 91% and our completion rate for students was 76%. While I’m proud of our achievements last year, I know that we can surpass those numbers this year. Significant completion numbers demonstrate our dedication to the tenets of Title IX and our commitment to promoting a safe and healthy campus environment for one another.

There are a number of ways to complete the training. For example, my leadership team participates in an in-person training each year where we engage in discussion and ask questions. In-person and Zoom training are available to all students and employees. To sign up, email the Office of Equity and Compliance at uaa_titleix@alaska.edu

The training can also be found and completed online via Blackboard. All information about accessing the Title IX training can be found on the Office of Equity and Compliance website. The training must be completed by Oct. 31.

Thank you for your time and your contribution to the safety of our UAA campuses.
