First-Generation College Celebration Week at UAA
by Keenan Britt |
First-Generation College Celebration Week is Nov 3-8, and the UAA First Generation Committee is excited to celebrate the strength and resilience of UAA's first-generation students.
What does "First-Gen" mean? You are considered First-Generation if neither of your parents or guardians completed a four-year bachelor's degree. This achievement is a major milestone, and one worth celebrating!
This year’s campaign theme is "I'm First and Proud." We invite the entire campus community—students, faculty and staff—to celebrate the legacy of our First-Gen students:
- Share Your Message: Current students, stop by our "I'm First & Proud" Story Station in the spine that is between the Avis Sports Complex and Rasmuson on Nov 4th-7th to share your message and be part of the campaign!
- Explore the Stories: Visit the new First-Generation website to check out stories from current UAA students, recent graduates, UAA alumni, and community members.
The site is filled with encouraging video testimonials and stories from First-Gen students, staff, faculty, and community members, offering inspiration and valuable perspectives.
Join us as we recognize the achievements and unique strengths of our First-Generation community!
