Every year on Feb. 16, we celebrate the life and legacy Alaska Native civil rights activist Elizabeth Peratrovich. The day commemorates the anniversary of Peratrovich's testimony that led to the passage of the groundbreaking Anti-Discrimination Act of 1945. Community celebrations include an Alaska Native Studies Symposia at UAA and a celebration on Facebook Live hosted by First Alaskans Institute.

Feb. 16: Open Forum for the Director of Student Conduct & Ethical Development

You are invited to attend an open forum with Jonathan Long, a candidate for the position of Director of Student Conduct & Ethical Development. The open forum will be held over Zoom and will feature a 30-minute presentation from the candidate followed by a 45-minute Q&A period.

University of Alaska Board of Regents to hear public testimony Feb. 16

Feb. 19: AK UNiTE Research Network Kickoff Event for Potential Partners

Collaborating Biology Faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Kodiak College, Alaska Pacific University, and the University of Washington, Tacoma were awarded a National Science Foundation Research Coordination Network in Undergraduate Biology Education (RCN-UBE) Incubator Grant. The purpose of this one-year incubator grant is to create a sustainable network of biology researchers across the state that will help provide place-based research opportunities for students attending an Alaska university.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to the students who choose to transfer to UAA. This is why UAA launched a new tool, the Seawolf Transfer Trail, to provide a sturdy foundation for potential transfer students and to set them on the most ideal path toward graduation.

The Future of Honors Education at UAA

Faculty and staff: Please provide input on the direction for a future honors program at UAA. A task force identified several key elements that would be critical to creating an honors program for UAA's diverse student body, open access mission and campus strengths in teaching, research, community engagement and commitment to diversity. The survey asks for your attitudes about the major directions identified by the Task Force as UAA considers creating a new direction for universitywide honors education. The survey results will be shared in two open forums over the next several weeks to gather additional campus feedback.

Celebrating Black History Month: Events for Feb. 17–26

The YouAA Committee has planned or coordinated a wide variety of events in celebration of Black History Month. All events are open to the entire UAA community. Students, staff and faculty are also welcome to join the YouAA Committee if they are interested in cultivating a campus community in which everyone belongs.

The Office of the Bursar is recruiting for an Accounts Receivable Technician. This position works within the Cashiering area of the Office of the Bursar, which is often students' first point of contact when inquiring about the university and their student account. The Accounts Receivable Technician serves as a cashier and accounts receivable information generalist resource to students and other members of the university community inquiring about university policies and procedures.We are looking for someone motivated to provide excellent customer service to our university community to fill this full-time, benefited position.
