Announcement to all UAA tenured or tenure-track faculty from the Vice Provost for Research:

I am pleased to announce the third annual INNOVATE Awards for calendar year 2014. Last year we received 35 proposals and 16 of those (nearly 50%) were funded. Faculty applications were received from all colleges and schools and a wide variety of disciplines. The recipients of the 2012 and 2013 INNOVATE Awards have achieved many successes; our previous recipients are featured on our website. I am looking forward to receiving even more proposals this year and hearing about your exciting ideas.

The purpose of the INNOVATE Awards is to enhance and stimulate research, creative activity, and intellectual property at UAA. Awards are intended to encourage research that will lead to publications, creative achievements, intellectual property or external grants. The awards are designed to encourage individual research and creative works, as well as multi-disciplinary research teams, and can provide an opportunity for mentorship of and research engagement for junior faculty.

The INNOVATE Awards will be made through a competitive process, and all tenured and tenure-track faculty and research professionals are encouraged to apply. Proposals from all disciplines are welcome. Please note that your department head and your Dean must sign your submission Form.

The attached documents include a proposal submission form and information regarding proposal content, process, and a list of frequently asked questions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Your completed submission forms and application packets are due on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, and should be emailed to innovate@uaa.alaska.edu.

I wish you every success.
