UAA Campus is Open
We are pleased to report the UAA Anchorage campus will open on Wednesday, Dec. 5, following last Friday's earthquake. The Chugiak-Eagle River Campus will remain closed, but classes will resume in alternative locations. Students should check UAOnline for their new meeting location. As you return to campus, we encourage you to check the web page uaa.alaska.edu/earthquakerecovery for important safety tips and resources about how to submit work requests to facilities for repairs. The professional organizations related to the field of Research Administration offer
many opportunities for training and professional development.
The National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) serves its members and advances the field of research administration through professional development, the sharing of knowledge and by fostering community. Their Resources page offers up-to-date information for research administrators. NCURA training courses offer the fundamentals and a good overview of the field of research administration.
The Society of Research Administrators International (SRA) is dedicated to the education and the professional development of research administrators,
as well as the enhancement of public understanding of the importance of research and
its administration. Research Administration training is also offered at regional and annual conferences
scheduled throughout the year.
The Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) is a cooperative initiative among federal agencies and institutional recipients of federal funds. It was established to increase research productivity by streamlining the administrative process and minimizing the administrative burden on principal investigators while maintaining effective stewardship of federal funds. NSF serves as the official host of participating agency documents relating to the FDP. It is a unique forum for individuals from universities and nonprofits to work collaboratively with federal agency officials to improve the national research enterprise.
The Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) is an association of research universities. Its office is located in Washington, DC. COGR's primary function is to provide advice and information to its membership and to ensure that federal agencies understand academic operations and the impact of proposed regulations on colleges and universities. COGR helps to develop policies and practices that fairly reflect the mutual interests and separate obligations of federal agencies and universities in research and graduate education.
