About UAA - The University of Alaska Anchorage is a comprehensive urban university, serving approximately 20,000 students on the largest university campus in Alaska. UAA has established itself as a student-centered institution, accommodating traditional and non-traditional students. At UAA, students have opportunities to be involved in a variety of programs.
How to get to the UAA Residential Communities from the Anchorage International Airport - Take International Airport Road east to Minnesota, then take the North on Minnesota exit and follow it to Tudor Rd. Turn right on Tudor Rd and stay on Tudor Rd until you get to Elmore. Turn left on Elmore and travel until you see a large roundabout in the center of the road. Stay on the left and turn left around the roundabout. Drive straight and turn left onto Sharon Gagnon Lane.
North Hall will be on your left, and the Main Apartment Building Complex will be on your right. If you continue on Sharon Gagnon Lane you'll find the the Department of Residence Life and the Gorsuch Commons, which housing, among other services, the Housing Office and cafeteria. NOTE: this is not a through-road, however, you find a cul-de-sac in which you can turn around.
About Anchorage - The University of Alaska Anchorage and the surrounding city offer much in the way of promoting individual growth. There are plenty of outdoor activities and facilities to be enjoyed here, including miles and miles of bicycle and hiking trails winding all over the city. There are many cross-country skiing trails and three downhill skiing areas in the Anchorage bowl. Alaska is also well known for its wilderness adventures, including big-game hunting and the nation's best salmon and halibut fishing. Anchorage is host to a minor league hockey team known as the Anchorage Aces, and a minor league baseball team known as the Anchorage Bucs. Anchorage also offers four main shopping malls, a Performing Arts Center, Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, City Zoo, three local golf courses and the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Whether it's a city or wilderness lifestyle you lead, we feel that UAA and Anchorage will help to expand your experiences so that you may grow both socially and academically. Anchorage is a metropolitan area of 260,000 people. Anchorage's climate resembles that of San Francisco in summer (60-70 degrees) and a Rocky Mountain ski resort or the Swiss Alps in the winter (15-20 degrees).
