I received my masters degree in health education from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health and served as a public health educator in a rural family planning clinic. After receiving my nursing degree from Case Western University, my nursing career began in the VA Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia. There I worked in many clinical venues, including nephrology nursing, neurological nursing as well as an array of ambulatory care services.I joined the faculty at UAA in 1981 and in this capacity, I've taught students at every level of the program. The three things I would like for you to know about me are that I am a relatively 'new' grandmother of a 32 -month old, an 'old' student in that I'm currently at the proposal phase of an online doctoral program in nursing education at the University of Northern Colorado. My clinical nursing specialty is psychiatric-mental health nursing.
