Shirley Valek Wilson MSN, RN
I’ve been a practicing Registered Nurse for over 30 years, with experience in Pediatrics, Oncology, Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Hospice and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. In addition I have been in private practice treating children and families impacted with mental health disruptions. My work with children and families capitalized on the use of play, sand-play and art as therapeutic interventions. My experience with and interest in end of life issues has led me to become an active volunteer for Hospice of Anchorage.
As a life-long student and a fan of education it was a natural progression to engage in the teaching and learning process. In the role of Professor of Nursing, it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to give back to my profession by facilitating the growth and development of student nurses.
