Question for Betty.

Every once in a while I get a small bump on my eyelid and it makes my eye irritable every time I blink.  Could it be an infection or just a stye?

Betty's Answer.

A small bump on your eyelid that comes and goes, could be a stye or hordeolum, which is an acute purulent inflammation of the eyelid.  It can be on the  internal or external eyelid.  Treatment is with warm compresses placed on and off for 15 minutes, four times per day.  If it persists with inflammation and irritation to your eye, you should be seen by your health care provider, for treatment of a possible infection.
