Question for Betty.

If I currently attend a college and am transferring to UAA, do I need to get my shots done and do I need to get the meningococcal vaccine, even though I did not have to take it at my current college?

Betty's Answer.

Welcome to UAA!  There are no requirements for immunizations for attending UAA.  There are requirements if you will be living in UAA Housing

UAA Housing Requirements include:

MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tetanus/Diptheria (Tdap is preferred), TB (tuberculosis) screening, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B.  Meningococcal is recommended, as the CDC (Center for Disease Control) identifies college students living in dormitories as being at increased risk for meningitis. However, this is a recommendation, not a requirement.

As a UAA Student taking 6 or more credits you are eligible to make an appointment at the Student Health and Counseling Center (907-786-4040) to evaluate your records and to do immunization updates.
