Question for Betty.

Will I be able to have children in the future if I'm taking birth control pills?

Betty's Answer.
Thank you for your question.  For many women, menses (periods) return within 30 days after stopping oral contraceptives (the pill). Menses and fertility should return to normal in almost all women by 90 days.  This is true for standard 28-day regimens, as well as the extended and continuous regimens.  Therefore, women who do not menstruate three months after stopping oral contraceptives should undergo the same evaluation for missed periods, as any woman with missed periods. In the general population, 80 to 90 percent of couples will conceive within 12 months of attempting pregnancy.
