Question for Betty.

I'm ill from my birth control, I am using a higher dosage of estrogen, could that be why I'm ill?

Betty's Answer.

Oral contraceptives may cause nausea and even vomiting in some women, especially if taken on an empty stomach.  To avoid nausea, take your oral contraceptive with food.  Also, be sure you are taking a multivitamin, as oral contraceptives can cause decreased levels of some vitamins and minerals.

If you have recently changed your oral contraceptive to a higher dosage of estrogen, this could be the problem.

Be sure to contact your health care provider if the nausea continues.
