Appointments and Emergencies

Mental Health providers schedule requests for mental health appointments. An appointment can be scheduled in the following methods:

  • Come to the Student Health and Counseling Center office in Rasmuson Hall.  If a practitioner is available, they will meet with you to briefly to set up an appointment. If we are all meeting with clients when you come in, someone will get back to you by phone that same day if at all possible.
  • Telephone the Student Health Center at 786-4040 and request an appointment for counseling. If a practitioner isn't available at the time of your call, please leave a message and we will call you back.
  • We don't encourage communication by e-mail because we can not guarantee the confidentiality of unsecured email.

If you or someone you know is having a life threatening emergency, call 911 now, or if you are on campus dial 786-1120 for the University Police Department. If it is not a life threatening emergency, but if you or someone you know is at risk for self harm, call Anchorage Community Mental Health (ACMH) 24 hour crisis line at 563-3200. If you live in the residence halls and you are concerned for someone, contact your Resident Advisor, as well as ACMH at 563-3200.

No after hours services are available at the Student Health and Counseling Center. However, we will try to accommodate you if there is an urgent need for an appointment.
