Vision –Why We Exist

UAA Career Exploration & Services believes that every student has the capacity to adapt to an ever changing workforce and find a fulfilling career that aligns with their passion, interests and values.  We do this work by focusing on student needs, recognizing that students come to us at a variety of points in their career development, and offering innovative, intentional programs and services designed to help grow their network, skills, and experiences so they have the ability to identify and participate in opportunities as they arise, overcome challenges, transition to and remain competitive in today’s job market.


The mission of Career Exploration & Services is to guide students in reaching their career goals, in a manner that supports student success and retention, and provides innovative and intentional educational programs, resources, services and opportunities to:

  • Explore personal values, aspirations, and goals to identify potential career paths
  • Develop professional skills, resiliency and competencies to adapt and compete in fluctuating job markets and high-demand job areas
  • Pursue experiential opportunities, graduate/professional school applications, and employment planning

Career development professionals provide leadership at institutional, college, and departmental levels in a manner that supports:

  • Collaborative relationships building among the university community, national, regional, and local employers, and state and local communities
  • Institutional goals and outcomes

Molly Orheim Staff PictureMolly Orheim




Molly Orheim has worked in higher education for over 20 years.  Her experience includes designing and teaching career development, financial literacy, and community engagement courses, and working in career development, financial aid, admissions, and workforce development departments. Orheim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Public Relations from the Edward R. Murrow school of Communications at Washington State University, and a Masters of Education, Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada in 2005.

Her professional, personal interests, and passion focus on ensuring educational access and equality for first generation, low-income and underrepresented students. She is dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential through traditional and experiential learning opportunities.

Orheim served in the US Peace Corps soon after she earned her bachelor’s degree. She fulfilled her commitment of two years in the Kyrgyz Republic, also known as Kyrgyzstan, as a high school English teacher. Orheim credits her volunteer experience as changing her perceptions of the world, her career path, and her understanding of the potential higher education has to change lives.

Danica Bryant earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from UAA in December 2013. She has gained professional experience through working at the UAA Career Exploration & Services (CES) since May 2008. As a Workforce and Career Development Coordinator, Danica is responsible for managing the various career fairs and numerous on-campus recruiting events hosted by the UAA CES. She helps with informing students, alumni, and employers of the resources and programs that CES provides. She enjoys helping UAA students, UAA alumni, employers, and community members in assuring that they receive the answers to their questions. Danica values working with the rest of the helpful CES staff and is grateful for the knowledge and experiences she acquires from working at CES. Danica aims to provide opportunities for job seekers to gain employment and achieve their career goals and for employers to connect with the most qualified and best fitting applicants for their job positions.

Courtney Petrosky is the Career Exploration Coordinator at UAA Career Exploration & Services (CES). She is responsible for coordinating the unique and well-developed internship program and works with many of the academic departments to help develop career curriculum to present in classrooms. Along working with faculty, she has designed an innovative online career development course to provide services and resources to many more students within UAA.  She has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in Teaching & Learning with a concentration in Adult Learning.
