Board of Regents Anti-Discrimination Policy

The Board of Regents of the University of Alaska System affirms its commitment to a safe and healthy educational and work environment in which educational programs and activities are free of discrimination on the basis of sex. It is the policy of the Board that in accordance with federal and state law, illegal discrimination against any individual because of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, physical or mental disability, marital status, genetic information, pregnancy or parenthood is prohibited.

The Board of Regents further prohibits discrimination against individuals on the basis of disability. All members of the university community have a right to a working and learning environment free of all forms of illegal discrimination including discrimination against people with disabilities.  It is the university's intent that no employee, or user of university facilities, be subjected to unlawful discrimination based on disability.

Disability Support Services (DSS) Grievance Process

Any individual that feels they have experienced discrimination or who wishes to challenge the decision reached in the DSS accommodation process may follow the grievance procedure outlined in the Regents’ Policy*. Copies are available from DSS, the Office of the Dean of Students or the Office of Equity and Compliance.
