The past few years have included significant accomplishments for USUAA Student Government. In the spring of 2015, USUAA embarked on a constitutional rewrite that restructured the Assembly in an effort to be more representative, replacing a limited number of Senator seats with Delegate positions, specific to each college at UAA.
Beginning in the fall of 2015, USUAA, through legislation and public testimony, successfully convinced the Board of Regents to reduce a planned 9% tuition hike by 4%, insuring that the cost of attendance at Alaska's sole public university would not rise too quickly.
Throughout the '15-'16 academic year, USUAA produced 24 independent pieces of legislation on topics ranging from fee increases for the Student Health and Counseling Center to the reorganization and restructuring of the Student Union. As we enter the '16-'17 year, USUAA is tracking many issues with a keen interest, including university-wide issues such as Strategic Pathways, as well as Anchorage-centric concerns such as the future of UAA Athletics.
In all of this, we look for your input and opinions. USUAA exists to give you a voice; together, we can accomplish much.
