Student General Elections - November 7-8, 2017

VOTE in the upcoming UAA Student General Elections! In Fall 2017, UAA students will elect up to 12 College Delegates to join the USUAA Assembly. Delegates will represent the students of their respective Colleges during the 2017-2018 academic year. Available seats on Concert Board, Media Board, and Green Fee Board will also be determined.

 Become A Candidate

FALL 2017 

UAA Student General Elections: November 7-8, 2017 

Seats Avaliable: Delegates (2 per College), Media Board (1), Concert Board (3), Green Fee Board (3).  

Candidacy Applications will be made available online on Monday, September 25, 2017.

Submit a completed Candidacy Application to the Office of Student Life and Leadership, Room 218 of the Student Union. The deadline for Candidacy Applications is October 6, 2017, which is 30 days before the election.

All candidates must attend a Candidacy Training session and agree to all USUAA Election Board policies and procedures prior to beginning their campaign.

SPRING 2018 

UAA Student General Elections: April 3-4, 2018

Seats Avaliable: President & Vice President, Senators (10), Media Board (1), Concert Board (2), Green Fee Board (2).

Candidacy Applications will be made available online on Monday, February 19, 2018.

Submit a completed Candidacy Application to the Office of Student Life and Leadership, Room 218 of the Student Union. The deadline for Candidacy Applications is March 3, 2018, which is 30 days before the election.

All candidates must attend a Candidacy Training session and agree to all USUAA Election Board policies and procedures prior to beginning their campaign.


Candidate Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrolled in at least 3 credits at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (at time of application).
  • A completed Candidacy Application packet.
Candidates for all positions should demonstrate the following characteristics:
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively with a wide range of people
  • Apply strong analytical thinking to policy issues
  • Ability to reach consensus on complex issues
  • Abstract thinking and the ability to see the 'big picture'
  • Confidence to interact with various UAA and non-UAA people and entities
  • Willingness to take a public role
  • Readiness to devote large amounts of time and energy

Election Policies

The UAA Student General Elections are overseen by the USUAA Election Board. All candidates and campaigns must abide by the policies and procedures set forth by the USUAA Election Board.
