Union of Students at the University of Alaska Anchorage (USUAA)
Jonathon Taylor is a Senior majoring in Political Science with minors in Economics, Journalism, and Communication. Prior to becoming President, Jonathon served as the Speaker of the USUAA Assembly, Vice Chair of Club Council, Chair of Club Council, and on executive boards of several other student clubs. Jonathon is also a member of the competitive Seawolf Debate Team, and is a two-time Quarterfinalist at the U.S. Universities Debating Championships. After graduating from UAA, Jonathon would like to pursue a Master’s Degree in the arenas of international relations, public policy, and public relations.
Matthieu Ostrander is a senior majoring in Economics and Political Science with a minor in Communication. Before becoming Vice President, Matthieu served as a Senator and as the assembly's interim Public Relations Director. As a member of the Seawolf Debate team, Matthieu has travelled to represent UAA at debating competitions around the globe. He is the winner of the 2014 Global Debate and Public Policy Challenge and was recently recognized as a CBPP Leadership Fellow. After UAA, Matthieu plans to attend graduate school to pursue further education in public policy.
Demry Mebane is a Junior majoring in Political Science. Demry is actively involved on campus as a member of the Emerging Leaders Program, a member of the Seawolf Debate Team, and part of the Student Activities Programming Team, where he had the opportunity to interview Bill Nye in front of a sold out audience. After serving his term as Ombudsman, Demry plans to pursue a Juris Doctor law degree.
Chief Financial Officer
Sophie is in her third year pursuing an Early Childhood Education degree. Prior to serving as the Chief Financial Officer, Sophie has maintained involvement on campus with the Emerging Leaders Program and through USUAA as the Chair of Activities Committee and as the USUAA Representative to the Concert Board. Following graduation, Sophie plans to work as an educator and further her professional development in graduate school.
