UAA Human Services Advisory Committee

The Human Services (HUMS) Advisory Committee provides feedback about local, state, and national trends, needs, and policies. It advocates for the HUMS program and assists in developing student learning opportunities. The committee includes individuals representing the human services field, such as field placement agencies, employing agencies, citizen advocacy groups, alumni, current students, adjunct faculty, and other persons who value human services.

The Council for Standards in Human Service Education (CSHSE) requires an advisory council. The AAS and BHS degree programs are accredited by this national accrediting body. The Advisory Committee meets once each semester; the faculty provide updates on new initiatives and any changes within the program, and the advisory committee members provide feedback regarding community needs, practicum placement opportunities, and identifies strengths of the program and any areas where they see the need for a greater focus in the curriculum.
