Session Abstract

Learn model 504 practices from Alaskan educators in various educational settings. Listen to stories about the 504 process that helps a student learn through physical or mental differences. See how a student’s cultural background may affect the plan, and how to reinforce natural supports. Learn about the new way to consider/not consider “mitigating measures” such as medications and technology. See sample policies schools use to stay up to date with legal changes.

1. Acquaint educators and 504 coordinators with the 504 planning process.
2. Illustrate issues through stories from panelists in urban and rural areas.
