IT Procurement for Accessibility
IT Procurement for Accessibility
Session AbstractINCLUDES AWARDS PRESENTATION Understanding how procured and contracted IT meets accessibility standards can be a challenge. Agreements may require ADA or Section 508 compliance, but what does this mean, and how can a buyer be certain the technology will not create unnecessary user frustration? Does industry certification meet all of your user’s needs, and will this evolve as standards evolve? Moreover, as technologies and programs change, how can an agency manage access issues with contracts and procurements? This panel reviews methods used by the state, Anchorage School District, University of Alaska, and private agencies and provides a forum to collaborate on Alaska’s web access issues.
